Take highway 82 through Glenwood going south and you’re off to Aspen, Colorado, 8,000 feet.

Aspen is home to 4 outstanding Ski Resorts and the famous X games. In the summer, you can check out the views with a ride up Snowmass, mountain biking and more.
Walk through history with the John Denver Sanctuary park and garden before or after stopping downtown for lunch. A foodies guide to eating Aspen can be found here. Or if you’re looking for a more off the beaten path local experience, stopping at Woody Creek might be a great place to enjoy an afternoon on the porch.

While in town, if you haven’t seen the Maroon Bells, you’ll want to do that. Don’t miss a walk around downtown to feed your inner shopping needs might be a way to spend your day.
A secret to this stop, this is the in-town adventure gearing up to the next part of our drive, which will take us on a personal favorite route in Colorado...stay tuned for Leg 8 over Independence pass!
