Road Trip Leg 1: Colorado Springs

Headed Southbound on I25, the first stop on our 5280 road trip will take us to an elevation of 6,030 feet in beautiful Colorado Springs, Colorado.

On the way into town on the west side is the world famous Air Force Academy sitting at 7,258 feet. Open to visitors and guests throughout the day, exit on 156 to drive through the base getting back on I25 on exit 150.

Continue down the highway to get into Colorado Springs Proper. While in town you won’t want to miss the Garden of the Gods.

The rock statutes will have you basking in the glory of the earth's ability to make such incredible rock features. While there park activities include hiking, biking, horseback riding, and rock climbing.

Another popular hike is the Manitou Incline, just 16 minutes from Garden of the Gods you can go straight up Pikes Peak with steps offering a 2000 foot incline up the side of a Colorado "Fourteener".

This is a famous workout challenge offered in this area for your inner beast.

However, if driving is more your style, you can also drive up Pikes Peak. This is a great full-tank-of-gas and half to full day activity. The morning will always offer better weather, but the views are incredible, a summit at 14,115 feet you won’t want to miss.

Coffee and site seeing at Old Colorado City might be another hot way to cool down as you enjoy the features of this town. Located close to The Broadmoor, this 1918 resort attraction is a must see. Located at The Broadmoor, The Golden Bee Gastropub and piano bar might be a perfect place for dinner while checking out the grounds of this famous hotel.

Colorado Springs is also home of Cheyenne Mountain, a “military mole city” under the mountain, but a little less famous and even more exciting is the Cheyenne mountain Zoo; a great attraction for young ones. Sitting at 6714 feet, this is sure to elevate your scenic experience. Don’t miss the attractions Colorado Springs has to offer on your #roadtripacrossamerica #coloradostyle

This being a road trip - the first in a series - it's only natural for us to wish you a safe, successful, and comfortable trip. Haglin Automotive is ready to perform a road trip inspection before you venture out and about for your summer in Colorful Colorado.

Heading out for a big journey with confidence that your vehicle is ready to go is a good way to start your trip.

To get ready, a tune up may be advised. The trip up Pikes Peak is an extended climb in thinning atmosphere - your ignition system will be taxed!

The trip down will challenge your brakes. To ensure they don't overheat, downshift to let the engine keep your speed down, and don't ride the brakes.

Maybe the air conditioning isn't cooling enough. We don't need to remind you that summers in Colorado can get toasty!

Some simple items are easily replaced when your car is in the shop, but not so much on a mountain road far from civilization. Wipers blades and air filters come to mind. As a complete car care center, our desire is to make car maintenance and repair as convenient as possible.

Finally If anything does go wrong, all customers who have spent at least $25 in the last year have roadside assistance coverage through our national car care association.

Haglin Automotive is committed to ensuring effective communication and digital accessibility to all users. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone, and apply the relevant accessibility standards to achieve these goals. We welcome your feedback. Please call Haglin Automotive (303) 442-8547 if you have any issues in accessing any area of our website.
